FAQs
The literacy boxes are designed to progress little learner through the first three years of schooling. As they learn at their own unique paces however, boxes can be used by learners of different stages in their learning journey.
Phase 1 - Designed for first year of learning for little learners who are ready to start learning how letters make sounds and how those sounds can be blended together.
Phase 2 - Designed for second year of learning for little learners who understand single-letter sounds and some common consonant digraphs and are ready to broaden their understanding of phonemes.
Phase 3 - Designed for third year of learning for little learners who grasp vowel digraphs, common blends and Bossy-E rule and are ready to explore more complex sounds such as trigraphs and quadgraphs.
In Phase 1, little learners are introduced to four new sounds each month.
In Phase 2, they will learn about split digraphs, vowel digraphs and common consonant blends. Each month your little learner will be exposed to four new phonic patterns.
In Phase 3, more advanced little learners explore more consonant blends, trigraphs and quadgraphs with four letter groups each month.
Absolutely everything you need will be supplied in your literacy box each month. The only items you'll need from your home are scissors and glue.
Each phase is designed for busy households and little learners whose attention span is learning to grow. Each day's plan aims for activities to take between 10-15 minutes.
Each month, all boxes come with:
* 20 daily hands-on worksheet activities
* 20 daily craft or game activities linked to the sounds
* Weekly calendar to star activities as completed
* Monthly calendar to track progress
* All supplies required to complete worksheets and activities (You will need your own scissors & glue)
For your child's safety and understanding of activity instructions, an adult should be present as they complete all activities. This is a great way to spend a little bit of time with your child each day and see them blossom.
Clear instructions are provided with worksheets and activities that make it easy for you to support your child. Guides are provided to offer parents additional support.
All complementary boxes are designed to pair perfectly with the Phase boxes. They provide a wide range of interactive resources that support your child's learning at the phase they are at in their journey.
That's totally okay. Family life can be busy! The activities could be completed later in the week or you could save some of the craft or game activities for school holiday fun.
If you select to purchase a one-off box or join a subscription, you will join the phase at its current spot. Boxes are not sold for previous months that have already occurred in the year. You can however receive those boxes in the following year's cycle.
As the Co-ordinator of a special needs school and a Masters in special education I have designed these boxes with all little learners in mind. They contain a variety of activities, hands-on learning and a multi-sensory approach to support the uniqueness of all learners. Short activities allow learners with a short attention span to complete activities. They expose children to visual learning and the repetition of sounds through the worksheets and activities across the week is aimed to support retention.
Each box is designed to be utilised by one child. You can absolutely subscribe to multiple boxes, especially if your children are at different stages in their learning journeys.
Items from the boxes are not sold separately but as a set to complement the subscription boxes.
Subscriptions
Literacy boxes run from February to November each year. Each month, each phase has a new box available.
There are three purhcase options:
1) One-off purchase
2) Monthly subscription
3) Yearly subscription
Monthly and yearly subscriptions have discounted pricing.
No. To change your subscription to a different phase you will need to cancel your current subscription and subscribe to the new phase.
If you choose the one-off purchase you will need to order the next box. If you choose the monthly or yearly subscription you can sit back and relax as your box automatically arrives to you each month.
You can make changes to your subscription by logging into your account. If you have purchased a yearly subscrption, you are not able to make changes to your subscription until the end of that year.
If you choose to pause your subscription you will miss all boxes that occur during the paused timeframe. The programmes run on a continuous cycle for ten months of the year so skipping a box will mean missing out on the opportunity to have those sounds in the cycle.
If you were wanting to get the box/es missing you would need to keep track of the months you missed and purchase them the next time that month came around as a one-time purchase.
Subscriptions are charged to your account on the 16th of each month.
Your subscription box will be received before the month commences so you have everything you need to commence the following month.
